Choose this blue black banded agate or the amethyst seen in image 3 & 4. Both are stamped ORB STERLING and are handwrought pin or pendant brooch pieces, favored by many Mid Century Modernists. Vintage Circa 1945 early pre assay Mexican Pre Columbian design puffy cheek bird man mask Maya or Aztec ethnographic motif repousse pin with a bird or serpent on its headdress.
Mark: Made in Mexico Sterling - with old style safety clasp hinge.
A most talented silversmith took a sheet of sterling and hammered it onto a pitch bowl to create such repousse detail. Because it is holloware one looks for the air escape openings which in this case are found at one ear.
