Worthy as a movie jewelry prop! Very antique circa 1900 Victorian long bookchain necklace with Arts & Crafts Art Nouveau era influences worthy of a jewelry feature or as a jewelry prop for the next movie or theater production. Very early Downton Abbey like piece.
Bookchains are quite often seen as chokers, while this one is double the length! The need for it to place flat requires that it be either short or this length.
100 years of warm rich coppery brass ornate long 30.5" necklace with the look of Arts & Crafts ending in an oval pendant that holds a bold 1 1/2" poured faceted hunter green glass stone - that almost fluoresces against light - is held in place by four very decorative claws.
32" around and weighs 2.7 Oz or 77 grams.
Gold, sterling & gold filled book chains are more common as they were saved for their precious metal value, while brass was commonly tossed aside, making this indeed a rare find.
A real beauty in fab condition! Auc3.16
